Water Cycle is a Science Technology Engineer Mathematics (STEM) activity for children with learning disabilities to do outside on a hot a summer day.

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • Chalk to mark the starting size of the puddle
  • Cups
  • Water (same amount water for each group)
  • Timer

Step Two: Children split into groups and go outside to the pavement or sidewalk.

Step Three: Each group fills their cup with a small amount of water and pours it on the ground, then traces the puddle using the chalk.

Step Four: Each group then fills their cup halfway and pours it on the ground, then traces the puddle using the chalk.

Step Five: Each group then fills their cup all the way and pours it on the ground, then traces the puddle with the chalk.

Step Six: Each team makes a prediction which puddle will take the longest to evaporate.
