This Rainbow Color Sorting Sensory Bin is an indoor sensory bin and calming activity for children with emotional disabilities like autism. It is designed to calm them, and to help them feel grounded while practicing motor planning and experiencing color. For really young children, it can be used for practice using their pincer grip (thumb and forefinger).

Technical Specifications: 

Step One: Gather materials.

  • a pair of Easy-Grip Safety Tweezers
  • a box of Fruit Loops cereal
  • an empty bin
  • 6 empty cups (1 for each color of the rainbow)

Step Two: Empty the box of Fruit Loops cereal into the empty bin.

Step Three: Place the 6 empty cups (1 for each color of the rainbow) in the cereal-filled bin.

Step Four: Instruct the child to use the tweezers to pick them by color into the 6 empty cups.
