The Woodward News - 11/3/2018

Nov. 03--Area schools are honoring service members past and present for Veterans Day this year. Students and 4-H members are taking great pride in the activities and projects they plan to present.

Veterans are invited by each community to attend the events.

Arnett's Veterans Day program is at 9 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, in the high school auditorium. The 4-H club will be presenting a Quilt of Valor to veteran Billy Bryant. The 4-Hers made the quilt with the help of the Ellis County Extension Educator Lynda Latta.

"This is the second year Ellis County 4-H youth have sewn for the program Under Our Wings," Latta said. "They made the quilt top piecing together flag quilt blocks with navy sashing, red boarder and star fabric binding. The quilt was quilted by a Veteran for a Veteran. The 4-H members are excited to present this year's quilt in Arnett. I will then register the presentation on the Quilt of Valor national site to reflect how many quilts are presented each year...This is a special sewing project for Ellis County 4- H and truly showcases the citizenship and community development for our youth."
