BRIEF: Veterans rally for Enyart's re-election

Belleville News-Democrat (IL) - 10/1/2014

Oct. 01--BELLEVILLE -- Military veterans, including state Sen. Bill Haine, were at the Belleville veterans monument on Wednesday morning to share why they believe U.S. Rep. Bill Enyart should be elected to another term in Congress.

Haine said Enyart is the best person to represent veterans, and protect and grow Scott Air Force Base, because of Enyart's military experience.

"He's been there," Haine said. "He knows the mission of the armed forces... He knows it better than anyone else in Congress."

Enyart, D-Belleville, is a former adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard. He joined the national guard in 1982, became commander in 2007 and retired in 2012 from the guard to run for Congress.

Before his service in the national guard he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973.

Enyart is facing state Rep. Mike Bost, R-Murphysboro, and Green Party candidate Paula Bradshaw for the 12th Congressional District seat in the Nov. 4 election.
