BRIEF: Program on hiring veterans scheduled Sept. 17

Aug. 31--The Sandhills Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America and the Moore County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to address veteran unemployment.

The two groups will co-host the Moore County Veteran Jobs Initiative in Aberdeen next month, officials said.

The Sept. 17 event at Aberdeen Lake Park is aimed at informing local employers of the advantage of hiring veterans and urging them to sign up for Hero2Hired, a Department of Defense program that identifies military-friendly companies.

Representatives of the association Hero2Hired and the Moore County chamber are set to speak at the noon program, which will include lunch.
