The Silent Alert Fire Safe Paging System is an emergency system designed for use by individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, or deaf blind. The system includes a portable vibrating pager unit that is worn by the user, a charger, and at least one interface panel, a radio transmitter that links directly to the fire alarm system and which is triggered automatically when the fire alarm is activated. The pager responds by vibrating and illuminating its fire key. The system has an operating range of up to 1,000 meters in open air, and less within a building, with distance depending on the building's structure. In larger buildings it is possible to include more than one interface panel. The system can be used to provide fire alarm cover for people who are deaf within public buildings and workplaces. Entrance notices are supplied with the system to advise visitors that the alarm system is installed and explain how to log onto it using their own home pager. The notice also advises visitors that additional pager units are available at reception. The system uses digital UHF radio operating on a specially allocated frequency. POWER: Uses built in rechargeable battery in pager unit.
