Kanye West will visit White House to meet with President Trump and Jared Kushner

The New York Daily News - 10/9/2018

Oct. 09--That's a lot of dragon energy.

Kanye West will dine Thursday with President Trump at the White House.

The Chicago-raised rapper has faced backlash for being a vocal supporter of the President and even proclaimed in April that the pair "are both dragon energy."

The celebrity pair will discuss "manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago," over lunch, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said in a statement Tuesday.

Trump's son-in-law and aide Jared Kushner will also take part in the sitdown.

Kushner met with West's wife, reality star Kim Kardashian West, at the White House this summer to talk about overhauling the criminal justice system.

Kardashian West also met with Trump in the Oval Office in May as she successfully lobbied him to pardon Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother serving life in prison for a nonviolent drug offense.

West has refused to keep his love of Trump on lockdown as he frequently tweets about the President and has pushed back on critics who have challenged his support for Trump.

West recently wore a "Make America Great Again" hat during an appearance on "Saturday Night Live" and delivering an unscripted pro-Trump rant in the studio after the credits rolled.

"There's so many times I talk to a white person and (they) say, 'How could you like Trump, he's racist?' Well, if I was concerned about racism I would've moved out of America a long time ago," West told the audience.

The rapper and producer, who met with Trump following the 2016 election, deleted his social media accounts on Sunday after public backlash.
