My Community

Public health is often managed according to boundaries and jurisdictions that do not reflect the functional groups which form in our society. It is increasingly recognized that the ‘community’ is an effective demographic unit upon which to base interventions in public health. Whether that community is defined by language, national origin, vocation or geography, new approaches to public health are emerging that help us to create not only healthy cities or counties, but truly healthy communities.
