Abandoned Vehicles
On June 18, 2002, the Merced County Board of Supervisors adopted the Abandoned Vehicle Ordinance for the unincorporated areas of Merced County. The ordinance went into effect on July 18, 2002.
The ordinance allows for the removal of wrecked, abandoned vehicles from private property after notification to the last registered vehicle owner and property owner. The Division of Environmental Health has retained a private contractor for the removal of abandoned vehicles. Implementation of the ordinance began on Dec. 1, 2002.
